Join the Woodstock community on Feb 12th for the screening of Cannabis + Creativity — an award-winning documentary. directed and produced by Elana Frankel. This powerful film explores how artists integrate cannabis into their creative process—offering intimate insights into the intersection of inspiration and plant medicine. The film spotlights the personal and professional lives of six artists: a chef, a musician, a creative director, a poet, a jazz singer and a scientist.
This is the ideal film to show in a town that has been an artist’s enclave since the 1950s, and continues to honor its deep connection with the plant. Herbal Woodstock, a women-owned and led cannabis dispensary in the heart of Woodstock is curating this event in collaboration with Bearsville Theater, as a celebration of our vibrant cannabis community. This is more than a film screening — it’s a chance to connect with creatives and community members who share a passion for cannabis and culture.
The documentary has been shown at many film festivals and earned major accolades, including Best Documentary and Audience Selection at the Catskills International Film Festival, Best Documentary at the Montreal Women Film Festival, The Impact DOCS Award, Queens Underground International Black History Award and the Independent Shorts Award.
Following the film, there will be a live panel moderated by Melissa Gibson, co-owner of HERbal Woodstock, and featuring Elana Frankel, along with other prominent guests.

Elana Frankel is the award-winning documentary filmmaker of Cannabis + Creativity. She is the founding editor-in-chief of the magazine Women and Weed and author of the book Women and Weed (Simon & Schuster/Centennial Media). Elana has been a guest lecturer at NYU, Brooklyn Law and RISD. Currently, she is the chair of the communications committee and former chair of the retail committee for the Cannabis Association of New York (CANY). Her experience as a multi-disciplinary creative with a trained eye for aesthetics, who is also analytical, operationally oriented and metrics driven, is the foundation for her consultancy work with brands and retailers around the country.
