ABOUT THE EVENT

“We Got the Beat – A Women in Music Summit” will bring together creatives and music lovers for three days of concerts, panels, screenings, and conversation at Woodstock’s historic Bearsville Theater, March 25-27. This is an immersive weekend covering every aspect of the contributions made by women to the world of music.

“Having been a music journalist and author for over 30 years, I’ve learned that convening with adventurous creative women in music is an incredibly empowering experience. Numerous talented women have nurtured and inspired me along the way. Bearsville Theater owner Lizzie Vann and I cooked up the inaugural ‘We Got the Beat: A Women in Music Summit’ to celebrate women’s achievements in music, exchange ideas about the future, and experience great performances in the gorgeous confines of the historic Bearsville Theater – one of the few female-owned venues in America.”  – co-producer, Holly George-Warren

Bearsville Theater is a supportive workspace and venue for women in the music industry. Its high-quality facilities are available to enable women to produce, rehearse, perform and record their best creations. We offer them to women at a discounted price. Our working rooms – offices, sound stage, recording booths and use of the theater for filming are available to solo and women-only artists at 82% of our general rate. 82% is the pay gap between men and women in the US as defined by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.  We are trying, in our own way, to bridge that gap.”  – co-producer, Lizzie Vann
