NRBQ

“NRBQ” stands for New Rhythm and Blues Quartet , a rock band founded out of Kentucky by pianist Terry Adams around 1965.  It has a reputation for compelling live performances with a lot of spontaneity and wit, blending rock, pop, jazz and blues.  Current members are Terry Adams, Casey McDonough on bass, Scott Lignon and guitar and drummer John Perrin.

Known as ‘The Musicians Musicians’, NRBQ have attracted fans as diverse as Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello, Keith Richards, The Replacements, John Sebastian, Dave Edmunds, Ira Kaplan and Penn & Teller.  Their songs have been performed by Bonnie Raitt, Los Lobos and Dave Edmunds, among others.  And the group served as the unofficial “house band” for The Simpsons for the season 10-12 period in which NRBQ fan Mike Scully was head writer and executive producer.

NRBQ has a following from years of live shows, performing, “a stellar and wildly unpredictable live act.” (Mark Demming) because of the lack of a set list. In addition to its own compositions, the band performs a broad range of cover material and audience requests.

NRBQ played one of many stellar performances at Bearsville Theater in April 2011. This set was featured as our debut on the Bearsville Uncut Series. Hear tracks such as The One and Only, We Travel the Spaceways, and Feelin’ Good (link)
