Going Up Country – This famous saying from the 1960’s sums up an attitude held by many young people who were eligible for the draft but did not support war. More than 30,000 young men moved to Canada to avoid fighting in the Vietnam War. “Going Up The Country,” a song by the blues band Canned Heat, reached #11 on the Billboard Charts in January 1969.
