Austin Scelzo was introduced to various fiddle traditions at Mark O’Connor’s early Berklee String Camps, learning from powerhouse players like Billy Contreras, Jason Anick, Casey Dreissen, Jeremy Kittel, Andy Reiner, Bruce Molsky, Mark O’Connor, and Christian Howes. His Bluegrass journey began with the CT based group the “Angry O’Haras”, then later, “On The Trail” with which he recorded fiddle and vocals. He now performs and records with “The Rock Hearts” a traditional Bluegrass group that has brought New England Bluegrass music to big national stages. Austin is also an active bluegrass community advocate, teaching at Wernick Method Jam Classes as well as an online bluegrass school, creating and maintaining the performance venue Bluegrass Coffeehouse and launching the Connecticut Bluegrass Association, where he promotes bands, education, and bluegrass related news to CT and the wider New England community.
Jay Maloney is a uniquely talented multi instrumentalist with expertise and experience across several genres of music. Jay brings a creative and positive energy to any musical situation that is impossible to ignore. A gifted drummer from a young age, Jay has taken that strong sense of rhythm and groove to his songwriting and arrangement. He combines this with a deep connection to bluegrass and other American roots music.
Jay released his first self produced full length record, Signals & Strengths, in 2018. The record has received extensive critical acclaim. Jay finished his sophomore opus, Humans & Mountains, in 2019. Jay regularly performs across the region solo and with a number of ensembles. His unique blend of talents and influences makes him a highly sought after musician.
