Lindsey Webster Live at Bearsville Theater
Oh, what a night… on Sunday, October 25 Bearsville lovers were graced with the presence of jazz and R&B vocalist Lindsey Webster and her rockin’ band for a very special livestream performance. And what a treat it was! The night was full of a healthy balance of soulful and upbeat jazz tunes mixed with soft and sultry ballads. Lindsey’s powerful and soulful voice was definitely the highlight of the evening, but that wouldn’t have been possible without the all-star band that was supporting her. On stage with Lindsey was Keith Slattery on keys, Mike DeMicco on guitar, Ken Gioffre on saxophone, Ryan Berg on bass, and Isaac Civitello on drums. The diverse and eclectic setlist combined with a musically pristine band set the stage for an incredible performance.
Lindsey Webster is a local, born and raised in Woodstock and exposed to music at a very young age. Lindsey played the cello in grade school and continued on to attend Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in NYC. It was there that she decided to transition from strings to vocals, and it is there that Lindsey has stayed.
The night opened with a funky, soul-driven tune called “Feels Like Forever,” the opening track on Lindsey’s latest release “A Woman Like Me,” featuring solos from guitar player Mike DeMicco and sax player Ken Gioffre. Up next we heard “Close To You,” the band’s latest single which was the #1 most added song on the Contemporary Jazz Billboard charts last week.
Next we heard a tender and emotional ballad called “Those Three Words,” a song about being in love and trusting the process. Following suit with the theme of love, we then heard “Love Inside,” which references the love we all have within us rather than love we can get from outside forces.
As Lindsey brought us through her repertoire, she continuously expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to be able to perform– something that we all know has been quite inaccessible during the pandemic. However for Lindsey, the pandemic did wonders for her in terms of writing and she informed the audience that she and her partner Keith are now working on a new record.
As the night came to a close we heard a wonderful rendition of the classic, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” followed by a funky version of Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody.” The audience was treated to one last original tune called “Back To Your Heart,” which blew us all away. Lindsey and her band put on an incredible show, continuing the legacy of incredible live streams from Bearsville.
